Summary

The Albertine Rift Mining Incident was the result of a joint operation between The Steel Cross and the Avionic Armada to create a series of superweapons for use by the Third Reich. The lynchpin of the project was a secret mining colony in the upper montane regions of the Congo, which was discovered, infiltrated, and destroyed by members of the New York chapter of the Odysseus Group.

Background

Foreseeing the difficulties of oil-based engines of war, The Kommandant, leader of The Steel Cross, sought alternate forms of energy to fuel his planned Aryan superweapons. He made his wishes known through the back channels of Nazi sympathizers throughout Europe, and was eventually contacted by one Sir Edward Duquesne, a member of The Society of New Apes. Duquesne informed the Kommandant of the existence of Telluric Crystals, and offered to broker a deal between his Society and the Kommandant's. The precise details of the deal are unknown, but Duquesne provided the location of a rich deposit of crystals to the Kommandant, who enlisted the help of Doktor Friedrich Von Luft to access and exploit the crystals.
