History

Albert (out of respect for butlering traditions, he encourages his employers to refer to him by his Christian name) is a former Royal Marine, twice decorated with the Victoria Cross (once for his actions during the Boxer Rebellion in China, and again for his heroism during the invasion at Gallipoli), and he still holds the rank of Colour Sergeant (Ret.). Having been raised in the housekeeping trade by his parents (a butler and head maid to the Duke of Gloucester), he returned to the role after the Great War, seeking a life of quiet, working retirement. Finding a succession of unsatisfactory employers, he made the mistake of accepting an employment offer from the New York chapter of the Odysseus Group, thereby permanently ruining his chances of the desired quiet. The whirlwind of activity surrouding the New York chapter has reinvigorated Albert, however, and he handles each new crisis with inimitable aplomb, whether it is gargoyle corpses in the front hall or Nazi gunbattles in the kitchens.

Notable Exploits

• Saved his commanding officer's life during the ultimately disastrous first intervention by the British military during the Boxer Rebellion. He killed four Boxer Rebels with his bare hands (having expended all his ammunition) in order to drag his wounded officer back to the safety of a barricade.
• After the death of all superior officers in his company, took command and led the company during the Battle of Gully Ravine during the seige of Gallipoli.
• Killed a gargoyle with a kitchen knife when the monster invaded the New York chapter's headquarters.
